Cajón - Miguel Angel Orengo


Miguel Angel was born in Murcia on 22 April 1977. His first musical experience was when he was five in the wind band of Guadalupe. At age ten, he started studying classical percussion at the Music Conservatory of Murcia where he obtained the highest grades and the Special Award in symphonic percussion. 

He studied with Nasheet Waits, Dan Rieser, Antonio Sanchez, Bill Stewart, Marc Miralta, Jordi Rossy, Pakito Baeza, Rubem Dantas, Roberto Vizcaíno, Miguel Anga, Jerry Gonzalez, Ney Rosauro, Gert Mortensen, Pedro Estevan, Miguel Bernat, Manel Ramada, Jose Armando Garcia, Jose Garcia-Abellán, etc ...

In 2001 Miguel Angel was awarded the Third prize in the 1st. Batteries Eurodrummer National Competition.

He also received the Award for best instrumental accompaniment in the National Competition for songwriters Ciudad de Elche 2003.

Miguel Angel has performed in concerts throughout the Hispanic geography and also abroad (Portugal, France, Italy, Monaco, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Greece, Russia, Egypt, Morocco, Iran, UAE, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina and Japan ) as a member of various groups and many musical styles.

He is the professor of the Band of the Federation of Bands from Murcia and Youth Symphonic Orchestra of Murcia.

Since 1997 Miguel Angel is a teacher of Classical percussion at the Music and Performing Arts Faculty, specializing in percussion at the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena.

Currently he teaches at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Cartagena.

He has performed and recorded with Carlos and Curro Piñana, Por Herencia, Los Parrandboleros, Cómplices, Presuntos Implicados, El Negri, Aurora Guirado, Carmen Paris, Er Peche, Javier Vargas, Lou Bennet, Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo, Javier Latorre, Max Sunyer, Jose Luis Santacruz, Jorge Rossy, Nasser Shamma, Yungchen Lhamo, Luis Cobos and the Madrid Philharmonic, Escolanía de El Escorial, Filarmonica di Padova, Moscow Symphony, Lublin Philharmonic, Beethoven Academy Orchestra Warszawa, Murcia Symphony Orchestra, Region of Murcia Youth Orchestra, etc ...
